Overview
The BFG was found in 2014 from a competitive sports project of the Fechtgesellschaft Basel, supported by a private foundation and with the help of the "Leistungssportförderung des Kantons Basel Stadt"
In 2018, the project was turned into an independent association the "BFG - Basler Fechtgarde".
Since 2019, the team has been working on the expansion of an independent competitive sports platform for national and international épée fencers engaged in competitive sports.

The athletes in our training group have a solid fencing education and competition experience. In their training sessions, they are focusing to working on their individual goals.
The lower age limit is 15 years.
Athletes who are interested in training in our
Group are welcome to present themselves to the head of competitive sports of the BFG.
The Basel Fencing Guard is not requesting
and does not hold any licenses for fencers
who participating in the group. Fencers at national or international competitions need a licenseof the respective national association.
They apply for this in their parent clubs
Tournament entries are always made via the
parent clubs or the national associations.
Our Partners
The "Swisslos Leistungssport Fonds" of the City of Basel actively supports the epee fencing sport in organizing the annual Junior World Cup tournament.
Merian Santhé supports the athletes of our club in all matters of physical fitness and health. Merian Santhé acts as an active consultant for sports injuries and provides our athletes with his training rooms for athletic training.

The individual support programs of the canton of Basel Stadt open up our hopeful Basel athletes the opportunity to apply for support to promote their competitive sports careers.
The Basler Fechtgarde is a sister association of the Basler Fechtgesellschaft. The Basel fencing guard enjoys guest rights in the premises of the fencing company and uses its infrastructure.
The Basel Fencing Guard grants SWISS FENCING guest rights in its group training. SWISS FENCING uses these training courses to train its fencers.
