The Basler Fechtgarde emerged from a competitive sport project by the Fechtgesellschaft Basel.

The fencing company started in 2014, supported by a private foundation and with the help of the sports funding of the canton of Basel-Stadt, a project to promote regional competitive epee fencing.

In 2018, those responsible for the project decided to give it a home in an independent association, the Basel Fencing Guard.

Since 2019, those responsible for this club have been working on expanding a competitive sports platform for national and international epee fencers engaged in competitive sports.
